About Me.

From a young age, I felt a deep longing to heal the world — but even then, I knew that the weight of so much suffering couldn’t be carried alone. So I made a decision:
I may not be able to heal the whole world, but I can bring healing to one person at a time.

One soul.

One broken heart.

One hurting human to be seen, held, and reminded that they are more than what they’ve been through.

I grew up in a time where dysfunction was the norm. I survived by becoming what others needed: high-functioning, productive, helpful. I became a bodybuilder to shield myself from the rest of the world.

I learned to tie my worth to what I did instead of who I was. But survival isn’t the same as living and it took years of personal healing, unlearning, and reclamation to finally know my worth beyond my presentation and my performance.

Now, as a trauma-informed therapist, I bring that lived experience to my work — to hold space for others to do the same.

To find peace. To find truth. To find themselves again.

Because healing doesn’t come from fixing what’s broken, it comes from finally being allowed to exist as your whole self.

Education

1995 - 1998

University of Wisconsin - Madison

3 Years Undergraduate classes

My childhood goal to attend UW-Madison - and I DID IT! After realizing I lacked the skills to balance athletics (Crew/Rowing Team) and studying (Physical Therapy major) - I withdrew after 3 years of feeling lost when my GPA was too low for PT school.

2001 - 2005

University of Wisconsin - Platteville

Bachelor of Science

- Psychology

After having my son, and knowing I would raise him as a single mom, I knew I had to make a change. When my son was 10 months old, I went back to school and completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I chose Psychology, specifically Child Psychology so I could have the tools to raise my son to not carry the generational trauma that had gone through my family line - and now ended with me.

2005 - 2007

University of Wisconsin - Platteville

Master of Science in Education

- Community Counseling

Never did I imagine I would go to Grad School. One day, after a Child Psych class, I went to speak with a professor who could help me gain understanding about Play Therapy. Little did I know, she was the director of Graduate Studies for Counseling. Within 5 minutes of talking, she asked me, "Why don't I have your application?" and my response was, "Application for what?" Her reply was, "Grad school for counseling, you would be a perfect fit." From that moment on, I knew I had found my calling.  Not only did I find my calling, I graduated Magna Cum Laude.
